Light cannabis: the flop of the ban and the strength of producers The government had announced the crackdown on light cannabis as a decisive measure to stop a growing market. The reality, however, tells a completely different story: the ban did not work. A few months after the restrictions came into force, the numbers speak for themselves. Consumers have not stopped buying, companies have not stopped producing and, in fact, the sector has continued to move, finding new paths and new channels. The paradox of prohibitionism The attempt to wipe out a sector that, in Italy alone, is worth tens of millions of euros a year has turned into a boomerang. Shops continue to sell, producers remain active and the market not only resists, but strengthens. It is proof that prohibitionism, when applied to a phenomenon that is now rooted and normalized, only fuels confusion and uncertainty without achieving the promised results. The voice of the producers Despite the difficulties, operators do not give up. "We move forward," many reiterate, emphasizing how light cannabis does not represent a threat, but an opportunity: a legal, traceable sector, with employment and tax benefits. Companies continue to invest in quality, innovation and sustainability, strengthening the agricultural supply chain and ensuring a safe product for the consumer. A missed opportunity for the government The flop of the ban shows how the State has missed the opportunity to intelligently regulate a sector that could bring economic and social benefits, as well as free up valuable resources to really combat illegal trafficking. Light cannabis, far from being a problem, is instead confirmed as a resource. while the institutions remain firm on ideological positions, the light cannabis sector proves to have strong roots and to be able to grow despite everything. The future will depend on the ability of politics to listen to citizens and enhance a phenomenon that is now part of everyday reality.
